William Swift Cadman, Age 24

Private, 21217, 6th Battalion, King's Shropshire Light Infantry.

Little is known about William except that he was born in Old Park and living at the Nabb, at the time of his enlistment.

William was killed in Action on the 20th November 1917 on the first day of the big tank assault at Cambrai his body was never found and his name is recorded on the Cambrai memorial to the missing, Panel 9, Stone A.

Notes:
William was the son of Mr William Cadman and Amelia Emma, maiden name Swift, in the 1891 census they were living at 36 Forge Row old Park, William’s Baptism was on the 22nd Dec 1892 at Malinslee, Shropshire. In circa 1899 the family moved to The Nabb Wrockwardine Wood, it appears that Amelia died in the first quarter of 1904, in the 1911 census Willian’s Father as Elizabeth as his wife and two Step Sons.
